The Return of the 8 o’clock Sunday Service

One of my favorite memories from my three years in seminary was gathering with my fellow seminarians for Morning Prayer each day. The fellowship, prayers, and scripture were as important to me as the classes we attended later in the day. One of the curious and wonderful side effects of this pandemic shutdown has been the return of Morning Prayer and with it, a growing fellowship.

Ever since Holy Week, we been praying Morning Prayer and Compline together Monday through Saturday. Earlier this summer, we added Compline on Sundays as well. Now, I would like to invite you to Morning Prayer worship on Sunday mornings at 8:00 AM. We are going to try offering this service for the next month and see how it goes.

We offer Morning Prayer on Zoom, so it is an interactive experience. We gather, say hello as people arrive, choose our readers for the lessons, and then pray together. I love our prayers in these services. We share prayer requests, pray for healing, offer thanksgivings, and share our hearts.

The Morning Prayer service typically lasts thirty or forty minutes and is a lovely way to start the day. We will have an interactive version of the sermon, a discussion much like we have done in the past at our Wednesday Eucharist services.

You can join the service with a smart phone, tablet computer (like an iPad), or computer by going to this link: Sunday Morning Prayer. You can call in by phone with this phone number: (253) 215-8782. Follow the prompts and enter the meeting id: 989 5576 5661 and then the password: 422052.

You are welcome to join Morning Prayer at 8:00 AM every day of the week and Compline at 8:00 PM every day of the week. The same link given above works for all these services. We have a wonderful group and we would love to include you. See you Sunday!

With love,
