Ryan’s House for Youth is an organization on Whidbey Island that provides housing and many services for the homeless youth on the island.
I am so pleased that St. Dunstan’s Church and St. Agnes Guild support this valuable organization.
I was privileged to take St. Dunstan’s youth group on their first mission trip they have ever taken. We went to Whidbey and worked side by side with homeless youth at Ryan’s House for Youth. Later, we hosted many of those youth at a weekend sleepover at St. Dunstan’s and everyone had a great time.
I became involved with Ryan’s House several years ago and it has changed me in many ways. There are so many stories I can tell about my ministry with these young people but the one that I will remember forever is the young man who came up to me and said, “Thank you Mary, you helped me find God.” This had a profound effect on me and, in addition to being the Vice President of the Board of Directors, I am now the Youth Minster as well. I personally have seen God at work with these young people and it has touched me in so many ways.
Several years ago, when I was healed from having cancer, I felt that God had a mission for me. I am living that mission today with my work with our Sunday School children at St. Dunstan’s and Ryan’s House for Youth. I thank God for the opportunity to be part of their lives. He is using me to bring His Word and Love to each one of them. I am blessed.
