Rebel, Patriot, or Insurgent?

As we have just celebrated our nation’s birth, we are reminded again of the struggle for birth. There were some in the early American colonies who didn’t feel the need to break from England, and others that violently protested their rule. Who was the patriot? Who was the rebel? In his own time, Jesus was a hoped for leader of the rebellion. However, that was not the good news he brought.
On July 7, our Sunday Seminar, will be in the form of a Three Practices Circle. This is an experience of sharing and listening, not arguing and debate. While the exact question is still being set, we will be invited to explore the questions of “Who are the rebels?” “Are patriots the same as insurrectionists?” “Voices of Patriots and Prophets – resist or embrace?” Rebels and causes – what helps and what hurts?”
